Arsenal complete Bielik deal

Arsenal officially announced the signing of 17-year-old Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw. The defensive midfielder can also play centre-half, and was reportedly bought for just over £2million.



The Polish international only made six appearances for Legia Warsaw's senior team this season but was also being pursued by Hamburg before Aresene Wenger stepped in.



Wenger told “Sky Sports” last week that he thinks the youngster is worth the risk of paying millions for an unproven star.



He's a defensive midfielder, he is 6ft 2ins, he has a good energy level and a good technical level. Is £2m a lot of money? It is less than that but yes, it is a lot of money for a player if he doesn't succeed. If he does succeed, it's cheap…Of course, it's a gamble. But on what we saw, it's a gamble worth taking."



Bielik is unlikely to consistently feature for Arsenal’s senior team in the upcoming future, but Legia Warsaw manager Henning Berg told “Sky Sports” he believes the U19 star has enough skill to get there eventually.




“He’s a physical player with good skills. He has very good understanding of the game and match mentality. Krystian is quite far ahead of other players at his age.”
